Mills Resistor Company manufactures wirewound resistors from the ultra small (0.02
watts) to the large (22 watts). The resistors are grouped in broad categories below. In
addition we are able to build resistors to your specifications and maintain our own
equipment to provide certification to NIST standards. Our resistors are 100% manufactured

Precision Power Resistors
The resistors in this category range from 1/4 watt to 20 watts. They include the
standard commercial power resistor built to MIL-R-26 specifications and the high
reliability type manufactured to MIL-R-39007. In this category we also include the
resistors manufactured specifically for the audio industry. These resistors are wound on a
ceramic core, feature all welded construction, and are coated with a silicone-cement
mixture to prevent damage and aid in heat dissipation.
Fiberglass Core Resistors
Resin coated on a fiberglass core, these resistors are the inexpensive line of
wirewound resistors. They feature endcaps that are crimped to the core and wire element.
Consequently they are typically wound to a 10% tolerance. We offer these resistors in two
basic sizes - 4 watts to the inch and 6 watts to the inch. They are available with either
axial leads or various styles of terminals.
Also included in this style of resistor is the "bathtub" or
"coffin" style of commercial wirewound resistor. We manufacture these from 2
watts to 22 watts. Normally axial leads are provided, but we are able to provide radial
leads or even Kelvin style configurations. We also manufacture 5 watt and 10 watt vertical

Ultra Precision Resistors
These resistors are wound on an epoxy bobbin and provide tight tolerance and high
reliability in a compact package. Available from .03 watts to 2.0 watts with tolerances in
some cases to 0.005%, these resistors are incredibly stable and designed for long life
under load. These resistors are encapsulated in epoxy, thus can only be used in ambient
temperatures of less than 130 degrees centigrade. Contact our sales desk for further

Networks
If you need multiple resistors in a compact package, this is the way to go. We can
provide wirewound resistors matched to tolerance or to TC in DIP, SIP, or special

Current Shunts and Current
Sensing Resistors
Mills specializes in the manufacture of these unique components. We have three basic
standard styles. The first is a Kelvin style shunt designed for current under 25
amps; the second is also a Kelvin style shunt, but it is designed for heavier
duty (up to 45 amps); and the last is a small very low ohm two wire shunt, designed for
rapid insertion into a circuit board. In addition to these regular models, we also have a
great deal of experience in designed the perfect shunt for your application. Please let

Specialty and Custom
Resistors
We are the manufacturer's of a small two resistor unit designed for the transformer
industry. We can provide resistors with specific temperature coefficients as well as ones
with specific fusing characteristics. Multiple and special types of leads and mounting
configurations are also possible. We specialize in manufacturing the wirewound resistor
that will best serve your application.
